The Grynd Report interviews Sha Trillz @Shatrilly

What’s good Sha Trillz. Introduce yourself and tell us where you are from.
What’s good y’all?! I go by Sha Trillz aka Big Trilly. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. In 2006, I moved with my aunt on Roosevelt Island, also known as Rich Blocc.

How did you come up with your name?
I came up with the name Sha Trillz just messing around one day freestyling. One of my boys had on a Been Trill leather coat on and I had made the leather coat the subject of the freestyle. I had incorporated my name in front of the Trill part and it just stuck ever since. The name Sha Trillz was created.

Who or what inspired to you to start rapping?
Growing up, it was somewhat difficult to express emotions. I saw writing and music as an outlet to express those feelings. I wanted my voice and what I had to say to be heard. Due to a difficult upbringing, I was filled with a lot of rage, pain and frustration. I found writing and recording to be therapeutic.

Since you started in the music industry, what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned since starting in the industry is you have to get up, get out and get it yourself. There are no hand outs in this game. You have to stay true to yourself. I also learned having the right team behind you can make a big difference.

Tell us about your new single ‘No Control’ and where it’s available?
My single “No Control” is off of my EP titled “Testing Waters” which is available on all streaming platforms. The track was produced by my boy DC and features my boy Goggleboy. “No Control” was just one of those tracks I had a good feeling about. We wanted to give off a little New York feeling on the track. Messed around with the vocals a little to have some fun yet still kept it a little gritty.

Do you have any projects in the works?
I am currently starting to work on my second project titled “Fear The Silence”. I am looking to release this project around mid-February. Looking to have some new content for SXSW.

What are some of your goals musically for 2019?
Some of my goals for 2019 is to keep learning this game and manifesting. I want to really start working on the Winning Circle brand. Just looking forward to outworking myself more then 2018 and turn it up a notch with this music.

What’s your definition of Grynd?
My definition of Grynd is going all in, no matter the circumstances or obstacles, to accomplish and acquire what it is you want. Whether it be a goal or something materialistic. If you’re upset with your job and not financially happy or whatever the case, those off hours after your 9-5 is what matters. Those are the hours meant for the Grynders. Learn a new craft, learn to invest, start a side business etc. Do whatever it is you have to do to change your current state. Hard work beats talent!!
