The Grynd Report interviews artist J.Brad @realjbrad

What’s going on J.Brad? Please introduce yourself to our readers.
What’s good! I’m J.Brad, I’m from South Carolina. Moved to Atlanta in 2013 after I dropped out of school. I’m an artist, producer, and I self manage. I’m basically my own label at this point.

How did music become your passion?
Music was always my passion. Just grew up listening to everything my moms and my brothers were playin. I started writing raps like middle school but never really took it serious till a few years ago. Started making my own beats and engineering after that.

You’re from SC but moved to ATL, How’s this transition helped you with your music career?
It’s helped a lot, Atlanta shows me love so it’s like a second home. Honestly it was a big reality check too tho. Coming from a small town and being out here on my own I had to move different. I meet a lot of important behind the scenes people just being out in the city and you can’t really get that back home.

You have a new single called ‘Sundae’ tell us about it and where it’s available.
Yea it’s available on all major platforms Spotify, iTunes, Tidal etc. I wrote ‘Sundae’ when I was really going through it. I was renting a lil room in The Bluff and I just felt like I was never gonna make it out. It just seem like Sunday mornings be one of the only times you see real faith in the hood. People going and coming from church, hearing them laugh and sing. The Bible say come as you are so I layed it all out, my struggles, my faults and my aspirations. The sundae represents the cream. Like Wu said “Cash rules everything around me”. Hopefully it can motivate other people still in that position.

Give us 3 words that describe you as an artist.
The total package.

Do you have an album or EP in the works?
I’m focusing on singles right now. Creating the demand. I put a lot into my music and before I release a full project I want to know people are really ready to digest it.

What’s your definition of Grynd?
Going and getting it no excuses. You have to find a way to enjoy the work so it don’t even seem like you workin. You gotta be up while they sleep, working at it every day. When it gets hard you just gotta remember, if it was easy everybody would have it.

What’s next for J.Brad?
I got a lot in the works. Always working on new music. Just dropped a video for another single ‘Wilt’. I do a lil acting too, I was actually supposed to be in ‘How High 2’ but I wasn’t in Atlanta that week they were shooting. I design clothes as well. I got a dope collab coming with Champion so be on the look out for that!
