The Grynd Report interviews artist GrooveGuy Benji!

What’s going on? Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us where you’re from.
I’m GrooveGuy Benji reppin “Need All Profit” from “New Light” in Pendleton, South Carolina

What was life like growing up in your city?
Pendleton is very small but it’s separated by two sides called New Light and Boogie Woogie. It isn’t a rival thing or nothing like that because EVERYBODY is close in the town of Pendleton no matter what race. Not a lot of gang activity if you have beef with somebody that’s between you and that person. Overall it isn’t a bad town it’s just really small and you’re very limited to “personal business” cuz everybody knows everything

What made you decide music was your passion?
My mom was in Band a majority of her school days and she would sing around the house everyday when me and my sister was growing up and my daddy(Weetstraw) owned a studio called “go hard entertainment.” Him and his best friend Prafessa was always on the road touring and doing shows so I feel like music was destined for me from the start

Growing up which artists could we catch you listening to?
A good variety of Artists such as Andre 3000, Biggie Smalls, Roger and Zapp, juvenile and the Hotboyz,

Tell us about the single you are currently pushing and where it’s available.
We are Pushing I’m going In shot by Crackstation Films on YouTube right now, it won’t be available for download until April 1st when the “Tune Me In” album drops

What are some of your goals musically for 2019?
I just want to be able to provide for my people and be able to give back to the community I came from. My main goal is to show the younger generations that are coming up and want to be part of the industry that this game requires more than popularity and following trends

What else can we catch you doing besides Music?
Playing basketball at the Y, or you can catch me trying to figure out a million more ways to make money out here

What’s your definition of Grynd?
Putting the work in to achieve your goal and once you hit that goal, setting a higher goal. Promoting, advertising, marketing doing whatever you have to do to make sure you and yours are straight
