Grynd Exclusive interview w/ Highlight! @highlighthhg

What’s going on? Please introduce yourself and tell us where you’re from.
My name is Highlight and I am an artist that represents Hard Head Global, which is my brand. I am originally from Lauderhill, Florida. I consider Tampa, Florida to be my second home. I lived there for about seven (7) years. I moved up to Georgia to be closer to my family and I have been here ever since. My music and content can be found at www.hardheadglobal.com.

What was your inspiration to become a music artist?
Music runs in my family from my great grandparents Bill and Corine Hollinger who sung in the choir.
My grandfather also sung in a band back in the 70s. I owe one of my close friends Ben Ryals for getting me started with freestyling when we walked home from basketball practice. It was something that I stuck with and developed into the artist I am today. Without question both 2pac and Andre 3000 from Outkast are my inspiration. The Eminem Show album is one of my influences as well as music from Nas and Jay Z.

With so many independent artists out here what makes you different & sets you apart?
What sets me apart from other independent artists is my style of lyricism and content. I do not sound like anybody out there. My music is relatable to listeners of all ages.

For those who may not have heard your music, how would you describe it?
My music described does encompass the full range of human emotions. What that means is that for my self-titled album Highlight which drops on 04/21 I have songs that deal with love, lust, anger, God, introspection, having fun, etc. I am not one style of artist. Overall my goal is to make meaningful music that moves the people whether to dance, think, etc.

Currently, what single / video are you pushing & where can we find it?
Currently my two singles are Bonfire and Jealous. Bonfire is up-tempo Caribbean jam that is going to get the clubs lit this summer. I flew to St. Lucia to shoot the video there. Jealous is my street/club jam that is also going to work well in the strip clubs. Both videos can be found on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXsuxX7sFQm75FFQiJijZog . I have videos coming for a third single called Dusk which is for the ladies and also Andre 3k, a standout cut from my album.

When you step in the studio, what are some things you must have on deck?
Honestly when I am in the studio it’s just me and the music. I have water, tea and my lyrics. I do not need much.

How did you come up with your name?
My artist name Highlight actually came from my days playing basketball. My homies and I gave each other nicknames and that’s the one that was given to me. I brought that name to my music. Honestly though, my very first name was Biggity B. We won’t speak to much on that though, lol.
