What’s good DJ G Box? Tell us where you are from and what made you become a DJ?
Everything’s Good Tampa!!! I’m Originally From Southern Illinois (Cairo) Raised in Decatur,Ga (Candler Rd) Eastside. Honestly before I started DJing I was doing “Random Hustles” and one day I walked into a furniture store, Fell in love with some speakers because my stereo had stopped working. Come to find out it was a karaoke machine…..I researched the equipment I purchased and it was pieces of studio and dj equipment….had and alwasy had a thing for music and clubs …..and the rest is history.
Describe your DJ Style? (Club, radio, mixtape etc)
I would say I’m a mixture of Club, radio, & mixtape……..But I study the art of mixing and the transition of the songs is my number one priority making it sound good.
How important is a DJ to the Underground music scene or artists period?
The DJ is the key factor in the underground scene and for artist. “We Break Records” not taking anything from artist and producers but no dj it’s hard to get that music heard.
What’s your definition of GRYND?
My definition of Grynd…..Is being or staying consistent while making progress.
When you receive music from an artist what are you listening for that tells you this is a song I need to play?
Im listening to the lyrics (if it’s relevant), Production/Mastering (most artist don’t take the extra step)
What projects are you currently working on?
One project in particular is the “On The Block With DJ G. Box” VOL 1
What venues & radio stations can we find you spinning at?
Currently I’m at Cloud 9 Hookah Lounge & Cafe 2880 Holcomb Bridge Rd Alpharetta GA(Every other Monday, Thursday, Friday (TBA) & Saturday…….Radio Personality on AUMA RADIO “Straight Talk With Boss Lady” and on Highly Unique Radio “5050RealSpillRadio both stations I’m djing.
What’s been the most memorable moment in your DJ career?
It would probably be my first paid gig which was a wedding my price was so cheap the husband was like no…but the wife was like take a chance.
What type of DJ equipment do you use?
I use Traktor Pro(controller, Laptop)
