#THEGRYNDREPORT Sits down W/ DJ Mista Sinista for an Exclusive Interview @mistasinista

Hey DJ Mista Sinista, for those new to the name, who are you and what do you do?

I am a very diversified DJ/artists. I love to scratch, beat juggle, play parties, and collaborate with great people.

When did you get your start as a DJ and when did you know this was going to be your career?

I got my start as a DJ at age 7 due to having a father that had a heavy background in music and was a DJ. After I started listening to all the great pioneers of the game, Kool Herc, Grand Wizzard Theodore, ect. I knew that this was what I wanted to do.

Lets talk X-Ecutioners. Arguably some of the most gifted DJs to ever touch technics. How did you link and what did you all do to get your names out there?

I linked with the X-Men thru Rob Swift. I had previously known them thru DJ battles, and Rob introduced me to the members. Later we became the X-Ecutioners, due to legal reasons with Marvel. To get our names out there we joined as many battles as possible such as DMC, New Music Seminar, as well as making mix CD’s. Once we built the buzz up, artists were asking for cuts on their records.

You have a vast resume in regards to who you have spun for in the past, give the readers an idea of the history you have been a part of.

Common, The Beatnuts, Fat Joe, Dead Prez, Lauren Hill, Celph Titled, to name a few.

You did the cuts on Common’s hit ‘Resurrection’, when you hear that record now what type of memory does it bring to mind?

Good times! When music was music, and people did it for the love.

‘Turntable Opera’ is the new video and the B side to ‘Life Without Fear’, what was the concept behind the video and what is the rollout looking like for the new single later in March?

The concept behind Turntable Opera, is the ability of one man to orchestrate and manipulate different parts of the record on a turntable, to create one whole masterpiece. I don’t want to leak to much info about ‘Life Without Fear’ other then the title speaks for itself, and features artists Worldarama, and Chubs, with production from Eitan Noyze.

What’s next on the agenda?

More music, more projects, mixes, and live shows.

Where can we find you online?
